东平村是惠州市惠城区桥东街道下辖的行政村，原是市区近郊，现位于新市区中心。村名因其位于古惠州府城东面的平坦半岛而来。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1949年前称东平伍；解放后称惠阳县惠州府东平乡，属第23区（水口片区），1952年划归惠州镇管辖。1958年人民公社化后曾叫惠环人民公社东平大队，其后称东平管理区，直到1999年定名东平村委会。[1]
地理环境[edit]
新开河与东江流经，新开河把全村分成「上东平」与「下东平」。上东平在河东北，分翟屋、梁屋、岭头、刘屋4个村民小组；下东平在河西南，分6个村民小组，即瑶头、水北朱、大路口、上排、长岗岭和林岗头。[1]
经济[edit]
全村541户。下东平已基本城市化，形成以专业市场、商品流通街、饮食和商住为主的产业；上东平正在建设占地约5.86万平方米的村民新住宅区。东平村于2020年、2021年、2022年连续进入淘宝村名单。[1]
著名人物[edit]
清代咸丰年间的起义首领翟火姑，博雅地名网称其为东平人。[2]
