名称由来[edit]
村名的意思是草木茂密的山坡，因古时此地是这样的坡地而得名。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1959年与洋朋、罗迪坑两个大队合并，1961年分出，设立茂坡大队；1983年起称茂坡乡；茂坡农村管理区一名始于1986年；1999年改由村民委员会管理，至今未变。[1]
2019年9月，该村入选2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
