石塘村位于高州市谢鸡镇，是镇辖行政村，也是农学家丁颖的出生地。[1]
名称由来[edit]
博雅地名网将该村写作石圹村，称因村前有一口池塘、河边有一块大石而得名。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
该村原归义山大队管辖，1961年从义山分出另立一个大队，因队址在石圹村而称石圹大队；当年年底大队部迁往山坡村的合水庙；1983年起称石塘乡；石塘农村管理区一名始于1986年；1999年改由村民委员会管理，至今未变。[1]
2019年9月，该村入选2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
著名人物[edit]
农学家丁颖（1888年—1964年）生于该村一户农家，据维基百科，他后来成为中国现代稻作科学的奠基人；他的故居在该村委会辖下的新山村，2020年列为第七批茂名市文物保护单位。[2][3]
