甘园村位于高州市谢鸡镇，是镇辖行政村之一，城乡分类属镇乡结合区。[1]
名称由来[edit]
据地名说明，村庄所在地原有一片柑子园，村庄建成后叫柑园村，后来为书写方便，「柑」字改写为「甘」。1961年公社化时设立大队，大队部设在相邻的大坡山，沿用甘园之名。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1961年设立甘园大队；1983年起称甘园乡；甘园农村管理区一名始于1986年；1999年改由村民委员会管理，至今未变。[1]
2019年10月，该村入选「2019年广东省卫生村」名录；2019年9月，入选2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
