谢鸡村在高州市谢鸡镇境内，是以镇名为名的行政村，城乡分类属镇乡结合区。[1]

名称由来[edit]

村名与镇名同源。传说古时此地康姓独自富裕，邻近三个姓氏心生妒忌，便合建三鸡庙，借谐音「糠」以抑康姓，使各姓得以均衡发展；为酬谢三鸡，地方遂称谢鸡。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1959年公社化时设立大队机构，1961年定名谢鸡大队；1983年起称谢鸡乡；谢鸡农村管理区一名始于1986年；1999年改由村民委员会管理，至今未变。[1]

2021年12月，广东省爱国卫生运动委员会授予该村「2021年广东省卫生村」称号；2019年9月，该村入选2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
