红新社区是广东省湛江市吴川市梅菉街道下辖的社区。名称来历：取一颗红心向着党、舍小家迁新家之意。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

居民迁出塘尾那年（1970年）起，四个村合称红新大队；1977年归入大廓口养殖地；1983年起称红新管理区；改为社区居委会是在1999年。[1]

概况[edit]

红新社区是水利移民社区。1970年，为开挖塘尾分洪河，塘尾公社的新屋、下围、下坡儿、下坡大四村村民迁到长岐一带的老巴山，组成红新，划归梅菉镇管辖。[1][2]

吴川市政府于2001年出面协调，把海滨东海、潮到两村的40亩地划作宅基地，居民陆续迁出老巴山。社区现有5个居民小组、1256人，分住三处。[2]
