新寮镇是广东省湛江市徐闻县东北部的海岛镇，镇域即新寮岛，东面临南海，隔海与锦和镇、和安镇等地相望。[1][3]全镇辖10个行政村，镇政府设在港六村。[1]1949年2月设新寮乡，1987年撤区公所改设新寮镇。[1]2022年被认定为湛江市文明镇。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网所载，明朝以前岛上无人居住，明初有福建莆田人漂泊至此，以浅海捕捞为生，搭草寮定居，岛因此名新寮岛；新寮圩则形成于清末。[2]百度百科的新寮岛条目则称，岛名来自明末清初渔民搭寮避风雨而定居的经历，两处所述年代不同。[4]

明、清两代，此地属海康县延和乡，民国初年属调风乡。新中国成立前夕的1949年2月，设新寮乡，隶海康县第三区。1956年2月，该乡改隶徐闻县第六区。1958年11月乡建制撤销，改为管区，隶上游（锦和）公社；次年另立新寮公社，1968年9月公社成立革命委员会。1983年10月公社改称新寮区公所，1987年区公所撤销，原地设新寮镇。[2][3]

新寮镇位于徐闻县境东北部，由三个自然岛组成，后经围海筑堤连成一岛，地势平坦，以沙壤土为主，滩涂资源丰富。[3]百度百科称，新寮岛由新寮、南湾、后海三岛连接而成，面积33.17平方千米，岸线长34.15千米，是徐闻县第一大岛、湛江市第四大岛屿；岛上无河流，居民饮水和灌溉依赖井水。[4]该条目还称岛的西侧由双堤与大陆相连，另有渡船往来。[4]

百度百科称，岛上传统种植番薯和花生；1995年起转向对虾、泥蚶养殖，2005年对虾产值突破1亿元；岛沿岸风力资源丰富，建有风电项目，其中洋前风电项目2006年的年发电量为9500万千瓦时。[4]2019年，全镇有工业企业2个，其中规模以上企业1个。[1]博雅地名网列出的当地特产有徐闻良姜、徐闻菠萝、徐闻山羊、徐闻黄牛和马友鱼，这些是徐闻县的特产，并非专指本镇。[2]

新寮镇是海岛镇，据《镇概况》，1992年建成宽6米、长33公里的环岛公路，2002年建成全岛交通网络；省政府立项兴建的新寮300吨级货客运码头于1994年上半年交付使用；洋前、跃进门、三丰、南湾等渡口可通往大陆的外罗、锦和、和安和海康东里等地。[3]这些是该概况成文时的情形，现状以当地为准。

百度百科的新寮岛条目在景点一栏列出了五处：堰头的码头与关帝庙、后海的白沙滩、洋前的风力发电设施，以及南海头的妈祖庙；[4]这几处没有找到独立的资料页，此处只记其名。
