名称出自圣堂圩：明万历年间（1573至1619年）在圣堂政府东北面设圩，人们习称“圣堂圩”，因是圣堂镇的圩镇，社区以此为名[1]。1985年前，这里是圣堂圩镇居委会，1986年起改为管理区；1998年10月9日恩平市政府批准成立圩镇社区居民委员会[1]。
