堂马村是宅梧镇西南部的一个行政村，与开平市苍城镇相邻，村委会驻堂马村，名称即由此而来。村委会辖11条自然村。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

清代属鹤山县双桥都，民国时属鹤山县第四区；1954年属第五区，称堂马乡；1958年为宅梧公社堂马大队；1983年复称堂马乡，1986年称堂马管理区，1998年改为堂马村民委员会，沿用至今。[1]

人口与经济[edit]

博雅地名网称村内常住人口4353人（未注明年份）。辖区有约100亩水库，水田4515.786亩，水产养殖面积1180.5亩，以四大家鱼为主；种植业以叶菜为主，面积约2000亩，采用“公司+基地+农户”的方式经营。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2019年9月，堂马村名列「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」名单；2023年5月，其辖下的南门村、南兴村获评2022年度省卫生村；2026年1月，被评为「广东省第二批“百千万工程”典型村」。[1]
