社区以居委会所在的东宁街得名，全称东宁社区居民委员会，2002年设立，沿用至今[1]。

地理环境[edit]

东宁社区与古劳镇的新星、上升、双桥、大埠、连北、连南、连城、下六、茶山、丽水、麦水、古劳各村相邻，所有12个行政村都和它接壤[1]。
