历史沿革[edit]
相传陈姓先祖从南雄珠玑巷迁来立村，1951年称梅冲。光绪年间（1875—1908年），斗门等地的佃农来到这里围海造田，所围之地叫「中兴围」[1]。
民国时属第八区沙梅乡。1951年，两地分属梅北乡与沙东乡。1961年各自成立大队，名为梅冲、中兴；1984年两大队合并，称梅兴乡，1986年却又拆为两个村委会，此后也曾分称两个管理区[1]。如今镇内的数据里，梅冲村、中兴村作为自然村列在梅兴村名下。
经济与荣誉[edit]
耕地合计2210亩，鱼塘占去1300亩，稻田有400亩，余下150亩另作他用；水产养殖是村里的支柱产业[1][2]。梅兴村于2019年9月进入广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单（2018年度）[1]。
