沙西村是广东省江门市新会区沙堆镇的行政村，位于沙堆圩一带。1951年土地改革时，原沙堆村分为东、西两村，此村在西面，故名沙西[1]。全村土地约2.13万亩，设15个村民小组，有1659户、5334人，在镇内属土地和人口较多的村（博雅地名网村情，集体收入为2009年数据）[1]。
历史沿革[edit]
相传在元至正十年（1350年）以前，这里仍是大河，即虎跳门水道的水面。廖、林、李等姓从会城等地迁来，在河边将军山的南坑尾、黄竹塱等处靠山居住。后来河边淤出沙滩，道光初年（1821—1830年），萧姓先祖由顺德迁来，在沙滩上立村[1]。
民国时归第八区沙梅乡。1951年土地改革期间，沙堆村一分为二，西半部设为沙西乡；1955年所属的第八区改称古井区，1958年又成立了沙西管理区[1]。
经济与荣誉[edit]
村里的山地最多，约1.37万亩；耕地约4365亩，鱼塘2000亩，另有其他用地约1274亩。村内设卫生站1个，党员130人，「两委」干部9名，集体收入主要靠鱼塘[1]。2021年12月，沙西村获广东省爱卫会授予「2021年广东省卫生村」[1]。
