沙堆社区位于广东省江门市新会区沙堆镇的中心地带，是沙堆镇人民政府的驻地[1]。社区由圩市发展而来，国家统计局的城乡分类属镇中心区[2]。

历史沿革[edit]

相传，肖姓祖祠前曾有一片由黄沙堆成的沙滩，「沙堆」之名即由此而来[2]。康熙年间的县志里已有沙堆村，隶潮居都二十一图[2]。

光绪初年（19世纪70年代末至80年代），那片沙滩是周边居民交易农产品的集散处，后来有来自广西北流、钦州、廉州，以及广东阳江、高州等地的小贩前来做买卖，渐渐成了圩市，再朝西南方向扩展。民国年间有沙堆圩，归双沙乡管；街道只有中心区的旧街一条，到1950年代以后，才成了像样的圩集[2]。

1961年沙堆人民公社自古井人民公社析出，驻地定在沙堆圩。此后，1984年这里作为圩镇（村级）设镇，1986年改称居委会[2]。
