相传开村之初，村子南边是西江左岸的沙滩边缘，名称由此而来。[1]
地理环境[edit]
社区总面积约2.1平方千米，东邻梅圳社区，南接新龙村，西面是璜矶，北面与敦根社区相连。[1]
