竹林村是汕头市澄海区莲上镇中部的行政村，南接永新村，西、北与兰苑村相邻，东到盛洲村，包括竹林、梅林、松林3个自然村。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

相传村子创于南宋咸淳元年，即1265年，村外竹子成林，故名竹林；先民是从福建莆田迁到苏湾都莲阳中乡的。[1][3] 19世纪又重建梅林、松林两个自然村，三村合称竹林村。[2]

1921年废都设区时称竹林乡，1945年与盛洲、上巷合称四德乡，1953年上巷、竹林、兰苑三村并为竹林乡，1998年9月设竹林村。[3]

经济与人口[edit]

据村概况，全村1271户，总人口5395人，占地约2.3平方公里；20世纪90年代以前以农耕为主，兼营林、牧、副、渔，其后农、工和第三产业并举。[2] 2020年起列入淘宝村名单，2023年4月列入2022年度广东省乡村治理示范村的创建名单。[1]

著名人物[edit]

清末拔贡李勋（光绪十一年中举人）和汉剧爱好者李慕周（1888年至1954年）是竹林村人。[1]
