永新村是汕头市澄海区莲上镇南部的行政村，下设3个自然村和9个村民小组，国道324线自东向西穿村而过。村民以余姓为主，占全村人口九成以上，是潮汕余姓的主要聚居地。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

相传元朝末年，余氏开基祖余仲伟父子为躲避战乱，由潮州迁到南洋中社，同其他姓氏共居成村。[2][3] 博雅地名网另载，余仲伟迁居的时间是1367年，他有七个儿子，其中数人后来又迁往外砂、潮州等地。[3] 明万历三年（1575年）建余氏大宗庙时，按易卦取名永平村；1950年为表新中国成立，改称永新。[1]

行政上，该地明代先属海阳县苏湾都，成化十三年（1477年）划归饶平，嘉靖四十二年（1563年）澄海置县后属澄海县苏湾都。[2] 1986年11月设永新居委会，1990年改设管理区，1998年9月建村制。[2]

经济[edit]

村民种植水稻、玉米、地瓜和各类蔬菜瓜果；工业涉及塑料、印刷、造纸、五金、工艺和南金加工，商贸围绕市场展开。[1] 2020年起永新村连续列入淘宝村名单，2020年8月入选广东省首批「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村，品类为蔬菜。[1]

文化[edit]

村里的传统民俗舞蹈鳌鱼舞，已列入省、市级非物质文化遗产保护名录。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

名贤余氏家庙是广东省文物保护单位，祠堂坐东南朝西北，占地1168平方米，分门楼和正殿两进，正殿名「永思堂」，实为纪念北宋余靖的祠堂，供奉余靖画像和历代祖先牌位。[3] 家庙屋顶覆黄色琉璃瓦，在明代潮汕建筑中少见，祠内有嵌瓷、木雕、壁画和灰塑，并保存明代传下的二十副对联。[3] 据博雅地名网，家庙乾隆四十七年重修。[3]

著名人物[edit]

余锡渠（1917年至1968年）和画家余翼云（1891年至1976年）是永新村人。[1][4]
