市上村在铜盂镇西南部，南临练江，与潮南区下方村隔江相望，因地处市集中心，原名市心。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
明洪武十三年（1380年），先人自福建迁此定居，立市上村；1958年起为市上农业生产大队，隶铜盂公社，1984年改为乡，1986年改设村委会。[1]
人口经济[edit]
全村4060人，旅外侨胞3800人，大多在泰国，也有在美国、加拿大、法国等地的，素称侨乡。1990年侨胞捐资156万元兴建市心学校；耕地799亩，村民办服装加工厂。1997年村内养猪场被定为汕头市「菜篮子工程」项目单位。2020至2022年列入「淘宝村」名单。[1]
