历史沿革[edit]
宋末元初，毛氏先祖自福建迁来定居；明代初年，叶、沈两姓迁入，后来吴、陈、许、郑等姓陆续到此。当地流传“未有头，先有毛”的话，村名上头由此而取。[1][2]
明清时村属潮阳县招收都，1921年至1952年属凤安乡，1952年起历经河浦乡、红旗公社、达农公社、河浦公社，1984年至1994年归河浦镇。1999年设上头村委会，2003年濠江区成立后设上头居委会，归滨海街道。[2]
人口与经济[edit]
村民主要姓沈、叶、毛、陈、吴、许。2009年全村673户、3230人，耕地共672亩，水田约占360亩，旱地312亩，种水稻、番薯、蔬菜、西瓜、花生，少数村民在家做服装、手袋加工；当年人均收入3923.3元。村西南和西北分别有华南矢崎汽车配件厂和华泰钢结构厂落户。[1]
荣誉[edit]
2017年10月，上头获广东省爱国卫生运动委员会授予的「第一批广东省卫生村」称号。[1]
