历史沿革[edit]
据博雅地名网所录村情，洋背村建于明永乐年间（1403—1424年），村前临海、村后靠山埔，村名即由此而来。[1][2] 1945年至1952年属潮阳县第三区，1952年起为潮阳县第一区洋背村；1956年底划入钱塘乡时，因办起华新农业合作社而改叫华新。此后依次属河浦乡、汕头市郊红旗公社和达农公社，1961年至1983年为潮阳县河浦公社的洋背大队。[2]
经济与人口[edit]
社区称辖区面积9平方公里，可耕农田624亩，有4350人、902户，党员79名。集体收入主要来自鱼塘和土地出租，年收入不足3万元，村民多靠外出务工谋生。[1] 街道概况提到，华新有约200亩牛蛙养殖和蔬菜种植。[3]
荣誉[edit]
2026年3月，华新列入「广东省第三批“百千万工程”典型村镇」。[1]
