根竹园社区是深圳市光明区马田街道辖下的社区，由原根竹园村改制而来，面积0.59平方千米[3][4]。社区名称源于根竹园村委会改制设立社区这一经过[2]。

历史沿革[edit]

村民为麦氏九世祖南溪公的后裔，先祖于南宋末年随文天祥抗元来到广东[3]。1964年，根竹园与薯田埔、马山头合成马田乡；1983年7月公明公社改称公明区，后增设根竹园乡；1986年6月改称根竹园村；1993年1月归深圳市宝安区公明镇；2004年7月城市化改制，改设社区居委会，后归马田街道[3]。

经济[edit]

据社区的介绍，2007年社区把工业区改为商业用途，办起根竹园农副产品批发市场，占地5万平方米，有摊位300多个，2010年被光明新区列为经济转型的重点项目[4]。2009年社区建成统建楼根竹园花园；2012年，根竹园被光明新区定为社会建设的五个区级试点社区之一[4]。

2022年3月，根竹园社区列入「第一批深圳市绿色（宜居）社区」名单[1]。
