历史与村名[edit]
据百度百科，村子始建于明末清初：瞿姓广府人在这里种沙梨，住在茅草棚里；邻近的林姓客家人以烧瓦为业，聚成的村落叫“窑下”，后来演变为陶吓村。[1] 村名的由来有个故事：客家工人问地名，瞿姓人用白话答“园瞓”（意为睡在果园里），工人误当作地名，便把沙梨园下方的村子叫成“元芬”。[1] 后来戴姓人迁入创业，村里至今有戴氏宗祠等客家传统民居，也保留着舞麒麟的习俗。[1]
地理[edit]
东面与鹊山村相邻，南面接上早禾、下早禾和陶吓。[1] 村民说围头话和客家话。[1] 地铁6号线设有元芬站。[3]
城中村改造[edit]
2018年起，村子推行整村统租改造，由政府牵头、社区协同、企业运营，微棠公司会同村集体渐进更新，保留宗祠等历史建筑，改建后提供约8000间租赁住房。[1]
