民新社区在深圳市罗湖区翠竹街道，名称取自改革开放之初「人民新生活」之意。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

改革开放前，这一带有深圳砖厂（后为建材集团的前身）、深圳罐头厂（后为深宝公司的前身）等厂房和职工住宅。2002年设立社区居委会，沿用民新之名。[1]

据博雅地名网所载资料（未注明年份），社区面积约0.15平方千米，约3500户、10000人，有楼宇68栋，住宅以原建材集团等六家国有企业的职工宿舍和嘉多利花园、龙丽园、柏丽花园为主。辖区内有锦田小学。[1]

文化[edit]

2019年9月，民新社区列入「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」名单；2022年8月被认定为「第二批深圳市绿色（宜居）社区」。[1]
