王坪村位于乐昌市乐城街道辖区内，属行政村。村的建制始于1958年的王坪大队；1983年改为王坪乡，1987年定名王坪村委会，1989年一度称王坪管理区，1998年复称王坪村委会，此后未变。[1]

2024年3月，它受命名为2023年「广东省卫生村」；2019年9月，它也在广东省2018年「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位之列。[1]
