历史沿革[edit]
居委会于2002年3月成立；2005年5月，涌边南、西涌、西兴苑三个社区合并为现在的西涌社区[1]。2019年9月，它入选2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单；2022年11月被认定为广州市2022年绿色社区[1]。
地理环境[edit]
社区东临西涌河，南至长堤西路，西至西丽南路，北接西郊村，占地约18.6万平方米[2]。
人口民族[edit]
社区登记2818户、10751人，其中辖内常住8995人、户籍5298人，另有外来人口756人，出租屋374户（博雅地名网所载，未注明年份）[2]。
文化[edit]
社区内设涌边南星光老人活动中心和西兴苑文化室，西兴苑曲艺社常在其中组织文娱活动[2]。
