西坑村位于潭头镇西北部山区，辖西坑、后门楼、粗坑头三个自然村，离镇政府驻地约16公里，离福安市区约32公里[1]。

地名由来[edit]

村庄建在山坑的西边，村名由此而来[1]。旧称西水，又称「多坑」，因「多」与「西」在福安方言中同音，后改为今名[2]。

人口与产业[edit]

博雅地名网记载全村314户、1136人，未注明统计年份[2]。村民以务农为主，种植茶叶和果树，村内有林地、茶园和稻田[2]。

自然与人文[edit]

村内古树较多，有五百年以上的枫树、四百年以上的榕树，还有百年香樟群和松木群。其中两株榕树树中包有其他树种，村人称「金包银」[2]。古民居沿溪涧两侧依山势而建，青砖黑瓦与红砖黑瓦的民居交错[2]。

村头的宫，博雅地名网称西坑祖宗宫，始建于明嘉靖二十五年，明万历四十四年重修[1]；福安市政府网站上的潭头镇概况则称之为「西坑村水尾宫」，列为明嘉靖年间的古迹[3]。两书所记名称不一致，是否为同一座宫尚未核实。

革命历史[edit]

粗坑头与后门楼都是革命时期的根据地[2]。

荣誉与沿革[edit]

2020年2月，西坑村列入「福建省第三批省级传统村落」名单[1]。2021年11月，村里获「2021年福建省卫生村」称号[1]。2023年12月，西坑村被命名为「2023年度福建省森林村庄」[1]。

1950年隶属第九区太逢乡，1958年设大队，归上白石公社领导。1969年并入上坑大队，改由潭头公社管辖；1980年恢复西坑大队，1984年大队改设为村委会，沿用至今[1]。
