西坑村在黄田镇东侧，离镇政府约12公里，203省道从村中横穿。村名的来历是村子位于一条小溪坑的西边。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1949年设西坑村，属第五区；1958年成立西坑大队，1970年归莪洋公社，1984年隶属莪洋镇，1990年改为黄田镇西坑村委会。[1]

村子被上级授予重点老区村的称号，源于解放战争时期村中老前辈为革命事业所做的工作。[1]

村子由新西、旧西、下洋仔、里坑、半山5个自然村组成，山林资源较多。[1]
