地名由来[edit]

这一村是从东文村另分出来的，因此取名新东。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

民国时期，此地属六甲乡的和富保。1955年在古崠设立福东初级社，1956年又与长坑尾合建新东高级社。[3]

1961年成立新东大队，属六甲公社，1965年并为东文大队，属武东公社。1984年设东文村委会，1989年从东文析出，设新东村委会，属武东镇。[3]
