红山乡位于长汀县西南边缘，处在福建与江西两省交界的山地之中，与武平、瑞金、会昌等地的乡镇相接。[1][2]

全乡辖11个行政村，下设81个村民小组，乡政府驻腊溪村，距县城78公里。全乡是国家级生态乡镇。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

红山乡原名洪山。宋代这里隶属汀州长汀县的永宁乡，其中一个里名为成功下里，明清时称成下里。因“洪”与“红”同音，地名改为红山。[2]

民国年间，此地叫作腊口乡，解放初归四都区辖。1958年1月，县里取消了区一级的建制，乡的范围扩大，红山乡于是设立，同年9月又改为红山公社。[2]

1984年撤销公社、恢复乡制，红山乡政府设在腊溪村的腊口，辖区与此前相同，下辖11个村民委员会。[2]

地理环境[edit]

红山乡区域面积为211.2平方千米，耕地有16404亩，山地有26.1万亩，森林覆盖率为87.55%。[1]

经济[edit]

乡里的劳动力外出务工，目的地以长汀县城、龙岩、厦门、泉州和福清为主，从业多见于服装鞋帽与不锈钢制品的加工，此外还有餐饮与服务业。[1]

荣誉[edit]

环境保护部在2014年9月把「2012年—2013年度国家级生态乡镇」的称号授予了红山乡。[2]

2021年2月，红山乡列入「福建省2018-2020年度省级文明村镇社区」名单。[2]

2024年1月，红山乡获得了2023年度龙岩市「平安乡镇（街道）」的认定；此前的2023年1月和2021年1月，它分别入选2022年度与2020年度的同类名单。[2]
