谢屋村位于南山镇，距镇政府约6公里，是个较大的行政村，南北长约2.5公里。村名因谢姓最早在此开基而来，谢氏开基祖于明朝初年由河田镇游坊村迁入。[1]

清代时，村境是汀州府通往连城县的官道经过之地。村内现有谢、廖、吴、王四姓，谢、廖两姓人口相近。[1]

建国初，谢屋与杨背、迳口同设谢屋乡。合作化后各自分社，公社化后仍为谢屋大队，1984年起称村民委员会。[1]
