龙潭村位于新罗区西部，靠近319国道，距龙岩中心城市约10公里。村名的来由有二：村中两棵大榕树，因方言发音近“龙”而被称作龙树；村尾小溪里又有一处深潭。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

明代，这里属铁石乡龙门里湖洋社，聚落称牛潭背；清末与民国初仍是湖邦社下的牛潭背聚落。1937年起为联保，民国33年以后归龙门镇。[1]

1949年11月，村归湖邦区管辖；1953年为乡，1956年划入龙池区。1958年9月起属湖邦、小池、龙门公社，为龙潭生产大队；1984年后设龙门镇龙潭村村民委员会。[1]

2021年1月和2024年1月，村先后被命名为「2020年度」「2023年度」龙岩市「平安村居（社区）」。[1]
