回龙乡在建阳区东部，乡政府驻回龙村。乡境东邻政和县，北界浦城县，西连武夷山市，南接水吉镇与建瓯市。[3]

全乡面积以201.76平方千米计，2019年末户籍人口为14318人。[3]

“回龙”之名出自一则传说：乾隆皇帝南下途经一座寺院，见古树参天、涧水长流，便赐寺名“自然寺”，随后北返回宫，地名因此称回龙。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

宋代这里属禾供里，清代以前归瓯宁县管辖。[2][3]

1913年两县合并为建瓯县，这里归北区星会乡的禾供里管辖。1938年，水吉设为特种区；两年后特区改为县，回龙仍归水吉县。[2]

新中国成立后，回龙划为水吉县第三区。1956年，水吉县被撤销，其地并入建阳县，回龙成为建阳县第六区。[2]

人民公社化的1958年，这里设回龙公社；1961年成立回龙工委。1965年至1975年5月，回龙属漳墩公社；同年5月，马岚公社从漳墩分出。1982年改称回龙公社，1984年8月公社体制结束，回龙乡得以设立。[2][3]

2020年5月，回龙乡入选「2020年农业产业强镇建设名单」；2021年2月，又见于「福建省2018—2020年度省级文明村镇社区」名单；2024年1月，获评「2023年福建省卫生乡镇」。[1]

乡境属亚热带季风气候，205国道穿过乡境。[1][3]

经济[edit]

乡内企业涉及造纸、胶合板、地板木加工和制革等行业。[1]

全乡工业企业共16家，规模以上的有2家；营业面积超过50平方米的综合商店或超市有8个。以上为2019年数据。[3]

农业以水稻为主，兼产莲籽、柑橘和茶叶，白牡丹茶曾作外贸产品。[1]
