水美村是南靖县金山镇下辖的行政村，位于县境东部，是金山镇的南大门，东临国道319线和九龙江西溪，距县城35公里，距镇政府所在地3公里。村中的王氏大宗追来堂已列入县级文物保护单位，明代官员王命爵出生于本村。[1][2]

地名由来[edit]

九龙江西溪支流流经金山之尾，取其谐音，故名水美。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网，王氏追来堂的开基祖肃斋公在元至正年间迁居本村。解放后设水美乡，公社化时为水美大队，1984年改为水美村委会。[2]

人口与村落[edit]

村中山地4500亩，耕地1400亩，村落面积2平方公里。全村476户，人口1700多人，设9个村民小组。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

1989年以来村中开始按规划建设新村，形成水美大街。王氏大宗追来堂在村中，博雅地名网称其始建于明朝正德四年（1509年），建筑古雅，已列入县级文物保护单位。[1][3]

人物[edit]

王命爵（1525年—1603年）字仁卿，出生于水美石桥头，明代在任近三十年，先后做过教谕、县令，最终升至正三品的嘉议大夫。他三次受赐「清廉宴」，皇帝御书「卓树清标」大匾，送至王氏大宗悬挂。[1]
