山美社区位于天宝镇。村落坐落在一山坡的尾端，因此得名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

明清时期此地归龙溪县二十一都管辖，民国时改由龙溪县天宝乡管辖。1958年划入星火公社的天宝耕作区，1961年归天宝公社，1984年改属天宝镇。[1]

2021年2月，社区入选「福建省2018-2020年度省级文明村镇社区」名单。2024年1月，社区被命名为「2023年福建省卫生社区」。[1]
