新东村是九都镇人民政府所在地，位于镇区东部、五台山下，西侧濒临山美水库，南邻彭林村，北接新峰村。村域面积2.3平方千米，全村辖六个自然村[1][2]。

历史沿革[edit]

此村早先属美阳大队，后并入新民。1972年水库工程使新民多户外迁，该地于是析出自成一队，因位于公社东边而得名[2]。1984年起改为村委会建制[1][2]。

地理环境[edit]

村庄东面与罗东镇高塘村隔一山相望，离南安市区约40千米[2]。

文化[edit]

村中较早的建筑有亭后祠堂与坑中广福堂，此外还有清水祖师庙、清康熙年间建的关帝庙，以及距今两百余年的境主宫。据博雅地名网，这些建筑在山美水库建设时由乡贤集资，从库底迁出重建[2]。

2021年2月，新东村上榜「福建省2018—2020年度省级文明村镇社区」名单；2022年11月，村庄被确定为「2022年泉州市中级版绿盈乡村」；2025年3月，村庄被命名为「第七届全国文明村镇」[1]。

名胜古迹[edit]

新东保泰山庄属于「近现代重要史迹及代表性建筑」一类，收录于「南安市第四次全国文物普查新发现不可移动文物名录」，所在地为九都镇新东村[3]。
