大埔村位于湖头镇，旧称“上元埔”。村子三面环山，有贡头山、湖来山与望头山；三山交汇处有一块平地，后人把“元”字改为“大”，遂称大埔。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

此地在明清两代归修仁乡感化里管辖。1946年（民国35年）起隶清溪镇选贤保，1952年划归第四区选贤乡。1958年划入湖头公社上岭大队。1984年设湖头乡大埔村，1987年乡改镇，遂设湖头镇大埔村委会。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2020年12月，村被认定为泉州市中级版「绿盈乡村」。[1]
