西坑村位于惠安县东部，在东桥镇境内与大吴村相邻。村名的来历：古时吴姓村民从大吴村迁来，居于大吴以西的大坑垄旁，故称西坑。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

西坑与大吴村在历史上合称大吴。唐宋两代，此地属惠安县三十二都吉庄铺；民国末年划为东岭乡的大吴保。解放后设第三区大吴乡，1958年划入飞跃公社，称大吴生产大队。1961年冬起，大吴与西坑分为两个生产大队。1996年，村里设东桥乡西坑村公所，两年后改称东桥镇西坑村民委员会。[1][2]
