村头村是八字桥乡的行政村，乡人民政府设在村中，位于尤溪县西部，西面与沙县大洛相邻。村子海拔约650米，气候凉爽。[2]

村名来自地理位置：村子处在尤溪与沙县的交界处，是县境内的第一个村落，故名村头。[1]

地理与交通[edit]

304省道从村中穿过，交通便利。八字桥墟场设在村内，是乡里农副产品和日用商品的交易地。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

村头旧属尤溪一都。解放初与龙湖合并，称作「龙村乡」；1958年两村分开，村头另成大队，归管前公社。1979年11月划归八字桥公社，1984年改为村头村，设村民委员会。[1][3]

人文[edit]

村中长辈相传，尤溪建县之前，界头一段已有人居住。界头江氏家族曾出过两名秀才，其中一人当过私塾先生。[2]

产业[edit]

村中的主要产业是毛竹、佛手瓜和金柑，三者都是村民的主要收入来源。[2]

荣誉称号[edit]

2022年10月，村头村被福建省农业农村厅认定为「第二批福建省乡村治理示范村镇」。[1]

2022年12月，村头村获福建省爱国卫生运动委员会认定，列为「2022年福建省卫生村」。[1]
