新厝村是湖美乡下辖的行政村。[1]

村名来自苏州人到此建房，“苏”与“新”方言读音相近，故称新厝。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1984年改为湖美乡新厝村。1961年成立新厝大队；1958年湖美公社成立时，村子属高平大队。[1]

1949年以后，村子归大田县第七区的高平乡管辖；民国年间属京仙乡，明清为大田东区三十都。[1]

人口民族[edit]

2006年因建设街面水库，大部分村民迁出；2008年前后，外迁村民又陆续回村建房，但多数并不长期居住。[1]
