此处早先并入宝山居委会，1997年另立东门居委会，2011年12月改为社区居民委员会。[1]

社区地处城区，辖区为旧城东门附近的街区，故以此命名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1996年以前，这一带属宝山居委会。1997年，另设东门居委会；2011年12月，经田政文〔2011〕103号文件改设东门社区居民委员会。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2021年2月，社区列入「福建省2018-2020年度省级文明村镇社区」名单。[1]

2021年11月，福建省爱卫办命名社区为「2021年福建省卫生社区」。[1]
