水美村位于凤岗街道东南部，东侧以沙溪河为界，南侧以芽垅山脊与井后村相接，西侧翻越三姑岭与三姑村为邻，北侧沿金山中际路与垄东村相望。主村海拔203米，村域面积约7.77平方千米，下设水美、南山下、下水尾三个自然村，分为5个村民小组。[1]

村名的来历是：此地位于沙溪河的尾端，原称水尾，后雅称水美。[2]

水美土堡群[edit]

村内的双吉、双兴、双元三座土堡组成水美土堡群。双兴、双元两堡规模较大，保存完好，外墙以高厚土墙护卫。沙县区人民政府门户网站称，三座堡分别建于嘉庆十四年、清同治元年和清咸丰八年；百度百科则载，堡群始建于道光二十七年（1847年）。[1][3]

沙县区人民政府门户网站称水美土堡为「省重点文物保护单位」，百度百科则称其为「第八批全国重点文物保护单位」，两说未能统一。[1][3]

人口民族[edit]

村民姓氏共有22种，人口前五位的姓氏占全村人口80%。居住在主村水美的村民中，约85%为张姓后裔，其先祖于乾隆三十九年从安溪县迁来。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2016年12月，本村进入第四批中国传统村落名录；2021年11月，被福建省爱卫办命名为「2021年福建省卫生村」。[2]
