村头村位于凤岗街道东北部，东面与高砂镇相接，南面和西面与西霞村毗邻。村域面积约11.58平方千米，下辖村头、小竹、中村、村尾4个自然村，分为6个村民小组。[1]

村庄原名前村，因与同名村庄重复，改称村头。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

村子古属五都。中华人民共和国成立后归高砂区管辖，大竹乡为其所在乡。1961年成立大队，隶属西霞公社；1984年改为村委会，属西霞乡。[2]

革命历史[edit]

村子是沙县革命老区的重要基点村，境内革命「五老」人员为凤岗境内各行政村中最多。[1]

森林覆盖率84.1%，村内生态林3039亩，有林地合计16984亩。耕地760亩，其中水田占94.19%，村内有装机300千瓦的水电站1座。[1]
