新厝镇属福州市福清市，在市境西南一角，面朝兴化湾，西边紧挨莆田市涵江区。全镇面积73.6平方千米，辖16个行政村。[1][2]

镇名源于1961年设立的新厝人民公社，此前的古称是光贤。镇内有明代的武当别院、清代的灵溪宫等县级文物保护单位，棉亭村的天生农庄是国家4A级景区。[5][7][8][9][11]

历史沿革[edit]

唐代，今地属莆田县，称文秀乡光贤里，896年改此名。北宋庆历八年，文秀乡改名万安乡，嘉祐年间万安乡划归福清县。[5]

明代全县分隅，光贤里归南下隅。清宣统二年，光贤里改称光贤乡，1943年乡址设在硋灶。到了1961年7月，光贤一带从渔溪分立出来，组成新厝人民公社。1984年改为新厝乡，1992年撤乡建镇。1995年6月，漆林村析为5个村，全镇从此辖16个行政村。[5][1]

人口民族[edit]

2017年，全镇常住人口为22350人。[3] 镇内大部分村庄通行莆田话，棉亭村和东楼村是例外，其余村居民主要讲莆仙话。[3][4]

经济[edit]

农业以水稻、红薯和茶叶为主，盛产龙眼。工业方面有电力、化工、制盐和服装等企业。[1]

文化[edit]

新厝古称光贤，是侨乡。[1]

新厝镇在2017年11月获中央文明委评为「第五届全国文明村镇」。[1] 环境保护部在2014年6月认定新厝镇为「2012—2013年度国家级生态乡镇」。[1] 2022年10月，福建省农业农村厅把新厝镇列为「第二批福建省乡村治理示范村镇」。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

镇内的县级文物保护单位有蒜岭村的武当别院、凤迹村的灵溪宫、桥尾村的桥尾桥、江兜村的江兜昭灵庙和草堂山书院遗址。[7]

武当别院是道教寺院，前身雪峰寺始建于唐代末期。明代天启五年即1625年，此寺扩建，并因周如磐题写的「武当别院」而得名。政府名录载其1988年定为县级文保单位。[9][7]

始建于清乾隆二十七年（1762年）的灵溪宫在凤迹村，嘉庆五年重修，为歇山顶石木结构，正厅供奉白金圣侯等忠勇之神，宫门前石壁浮雕「空城计」「文王求贤」等故事。1981年定为县级文保单位。[8][7]

桥尾桥位于桥尾村，长约97米，是福清与莆田的分界桥梁，又名迎仙桥。年代为宋，1988年定为县级文保单位。[10][7]

天生农庄位于棉亭村，占地1078亩，2001年开始规划筹建，以无公害蔬果、林木和花卉种植为主，兼作科普教育，被评为国家4A级景区。[6][11]

著名人物[edit]
