地名由来[edit]

村南原有渡口，名为渡头塘，村位于塘北，故名[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

旧属孝义乡化南里，境内有桃源境。1950年属第七区坑边乡，1962年析出另立村委会，属三山乡，1990年改乡为镇[1]。

文化[edit]

2024年1月，塘北村被命名为「2023年福建省卫生村」[1]。
