港头镇是福清市辖下的一个镇，福清市由福州市代管，镇域在龙高半岛中部，北临福清湾，西南濒兴化湾。全镇辖31个行政村，镇区所在地为白玉村，1992年由乡改为镇。境内以低丘和谷地为主，海岸线较长，农业以无公害蔬菜和尖椒等为主，并有旅居海外的侨胞。[1][2][8]

历史沿革[edit]

唐宋时期，这一带属崇德乡，宋代分属化北里和东隅等里的若干境。清宣统二年（1910年）其下各村改隶龙田镇，民国时期设保、甲，分属化北乡、化南乡等。[7]

1950年这一带先后划入福清县第七区和第十三区，1958年隶属龙田公社。1961年港头自龙田公社划出，另设港头公社；1984年公社改称乡；1992年撤乡置镇。百度百科所载撤乡设镇的年份为1991年，此处取博雅地名网及各村页面所载的1992年。[1][2][7]

地理环境[edit]

港头镇位于福清市东南的龙高半岛中部，全镇面积45平方千米[3]。北面临福清湾，西南面濒兴化湾，海岸线长11.43公里。丘陵低缓、谷地较多，气候为亚热带季风型。境内设有生态保护区，黑脸琵鹭在此越冬。[1][2]

人口与经济[edit]

2023年全镇总人口约8.67万人；另据百度百科，2012年末户籍人口为81032人。镇内旅居海外的侨胞有3万余人。[2][6]

种植业以蔬菜和尖椒为重点，近年推广无公害生产；工业则靠建材与水产加工撑起。镇区白玉村是全镇的经济、文化与金融中心。[2][8]

名胜古迹[edit]

瑶山自治会武装斗争旧址在后卓村东面的福兴寺。土地革命时期，福兴寺是中共地下党在龙田、高山一带开展武装斗争的据点之一，属于革命旧址。[4]

港头叶氏宗祠位于后叶村，建于明代，1988年被公布为「县级文物保护单位」。[1]

境内还保存有叶向高祖祠等古迹。[2]

著名人物[edit]

叶向高（1559年至1627年）是明朝内阁首辅，博雅地名网将其列为港头镇的相关人物。[1][5]
