桥东村是梅溪镇下辖的行政村，为中国传统村落，村中保留着连片的清代古厝，古树群生长在古厝前后。村名的来历有一说：相传晋代谢安的家在京城乌衣巷，皇帝赐其宅名为“桥东”，后人便以此名村。[1][2]

名胜古迹[edit]

村中的古树群约占34亩，有140余株树木，其中21株被认定为古树，平均树龄约150年，2022年入选「福建最美古树群」。古厝宝树堂位于古树群前方，村民便把这片林子叫作“宝树林”。[2]

八十年代时，王世襄先生到访过桥东村，并在此题写了一个“适”字。[2]

文化[edit]

省爱卫办于2021年11月把桥东村定为「2021年福建省卫生村」；2024年12月，村庄被认定为2024年度福州市「绿盈乡村」建设中级版村庄。[1]
