石马村是潭头镇下辖的行政村，村西邻西港尾，东邻沙尾，北邻元岱，南邻曹朱。村辖前石马、后石马、沟乾、阁壁厝4个自然村。[1][2]

村名的来历是村前有一块形似马的石头，当地称之为马石。[3]

历史沿革[edit]

村子旧属芳桂乡，为大宏里六图。[2]

地理与风貌[edit]

村中山峰形似睡龟，故称龟山。北面立有凤山，龟尾一带有严湖，又称西湖，开辟于南朝陈时期。[2]

姓氏与宗族[edit]

村民多为陈、林两姓。陈姓中，一支明代由岭南迁入，一支由金峰华阳迁入，另一支由潭头文石迁入；阁壁厝自然村的陈姓则由金峰首联迁来。林姓先祖由金峰前林迁入，林氏祖厅为三落的建筑，历经三百多年。[2]

古迹[edit]

石马观音堂始建于清顺治二年（1645年），堂内保存有清代古碑和龙香炉等文物。[2]
