横湖村在兴宁市宁新街道南边，属城乡结合区。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
传说宋代这里有大片水塘，罗孟郊的生母怀着他外出，途经此地，正愁没有人摆渡，恰有船从湖上横渡而来，所以叫「横湖塘」，新中国成立后定名横湖。1949年后为横湖乡，1958年至1983年改作大队，1984年复为乡，1987年为管理区，1999年为村委会。[1]

村辖20个村民小组，826户、3293人，耕地1933亩。2019年9月列入广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
