历史沿革[edit]
八社原属差干，1949年设乡，1975年才划给上举，当时叫八社生产大队，之后经历（小）乡、村民委员会、管理区几种名称，1999年恢复八社村民委员会之称。[1]
地理环境[edit]
村域面积22.2平方千米，耕地1390.6亩，林地30605.9亩；东北部海拔约200米，南部最高点511米。[2]年均气温23℃，降雨量每年约1710毫米。[1]
经济[edit]
村民种烤烟、仙人草和脐橙，仙人草与脐橙是特色收入，博雅地名网记上一年农村经济总收入为556.5万元。[1]2006年开发仙人草450亩，并成立了农业专业合作社，后来也种灵芝。[2]
荣誉[edit]
1963年，八社文化室被评为广东省先进文化室；2020年认定为广东省森林乡村；2022年1月，省乡村振兴局把它定为2021年度乡村治理示范村的创建单位。[1][2]
