新华村在龙岗镇西南部，辖5个村民小组，登记646户、2771人，土地面积18.16平方公里，耕地1100亩。[1]主要作物有甜竹笋，特色收入来自沙田柚；该村外出乡贤多，当地以组织劳动力到珠三角企业就业为增收办法之一。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
村名与温泉有关：建村之初当地有温泉，故称下汤乡，到1983年才易名新华。[2]1999年5月设村委会，此前的1987年叫管理区，1983年叫新华乡；再往前，1958年为双华大队，1952年则是下汤乡。[2]2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单收有此村。[1]
