莆田村位于广东省惠州市惠东县白花镇，是该镇的村级单位之一。相传先祖迁到这里时，田地里长满蒲草，所以叫蒲田；后人为了书写方便，取「蒲」字的方言谐音，改作莆田。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
据载，明隆庆三年（1569）有人从梅县迁来。清代，归善县碧甲司的莆田约管辖此地；1940年划入惠阳县第四区莆田乡，1943年2月称蒲田乡，1947年改属海安乡，1949年12月起称莆田乡。1958年10月起设莆田大队，1961年6月转隶莆田公社，1965年7月起属惠东县。1983年11月设莆田乡，到1987年3月成立村委，1990年称管理区，1999年4月起称莆田村委会。[2]
